Honouring Sheridan Apter
On 28 September 2025, the Apter family lost their beautiful daughter and sister, Sheridan, aged just 35.
In the midst of profound grief, one thing was immediately clear, Sheridan’s life had to be honoured in a way that truly reflected who she was and what she loved. And for Sheridan, that meant netball.
From the age of eight, netball was her world. For 27 years she played, umpired, coached and mentored. More than that, Sheridan had a rare gift, she made people feel like they belonged. She built confidence, created community, and ensured no one was ever left out.
When the Apter family began searching for a way to create a meaningful legacy, they sought an organisation that embodied Sheridan’s values of inclusion, confidence and opportunity. That search led them to the Confident Girls Foundation.
The Confident Girls Foundation exists to support women and girls experiencing disadvantage, using netball as a powerful vehicle to build confidence, skills, friendships and leadership. For the Apter family, it was an immediate and heartfelt connection.
“Instilling Sheridan’s passion, confidence and love of the game of netball in others is a wonderful tribute.” — Anne Apter
